Why does the UN observe the International Day of the preservation of ozone layer ?
Ozone is a natural gas that is found in two different layer of the atmosphere. In the upper layer, ozone protect life on Earth by absorbing some of the sun’s UV rays. Too much UV Ray can cause skin cancer, and will also harm all plant and animals.
However certain Chemicals that we use can destroy the Ozone layer. Which substance include chlorofluorocarbon also known as CFCs.
Since 1995, on 16th September each year, the UN celebrate the International Day of preservation of ozone layer. The purpose of this day is to focus attention and action at the global level, on the protect the ozone layer.
