This death is a big shock for the entertainment industry and Bollywood. She stepped for singing at the age of 13. She is a world record holder for singing over 30,000 songs starting her career from 1942. An excellent career of around seven decades earns her many titles.

She is also honoured by most prestigious awards in the industry DadaSaheb Phalke Award and three of the country’s highest Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan awards. France also gave the Legion of Honour, Highest civilian award to Lata Mangeshkar.

Early Life

Lata Mangeshkar was born in 1929 at the home of Deenanath Mangeshkar, a musician and theater actor. She was the eldest among her 4 other siblings. She started her singing career at the age of 13 after her father died of a heart attack. Lata truly accepts Ghulam Haider as her Godfather who always believed in her true talent. Lata was famed after many years of singing but at an early stage she was rejected on the basis of her thin voice and then Haider said that in coming days producers will fall in feet of Lata to sing a song for their movies. Interestingly she later developed her own style of singing and a true legend by any means.

Controversy

However her life was also not controversy free all the time. On her Guinness record it was disputed for the number of songs she sang. In 1974 when the first time it happened it was said that she sung no less than 25000 songs but was disputed on the basis of Md. Rafi’s 28000 songs. She holded this record till 2011 when her sister Asha Bhosle took over and now the record belongs to Pulapaka Sushila. One can only imagine a prestigious career like Lata Mangeshkar for over seven decades and it is not easy to dominate an industry. One can only dream of the success Lata ji got but no one can dream of the hard work.

At last it is a salute to her prestigious career and a very beautiful personality that left this world today.
